The system design depends on the survey objectives: detection of deep conductors or conductivity mapping. Exploration for conductive ore-bodies and sounding conductivity contrasts needs different energization of the overburden and the underlying targets. This implies different wave-forms and different frequencies of energization.
NOVATEM has been designed in order to optimize each of these objectives. In each case the mechanical system is the same, mainly based on an ultra-rigid frame and a very low noise level. But the electronic and power components differ for each objective in order the series of measurements at increasing time-gates provide the best decays along the survey line.
The ultra-rigid configuration reducing the movements between the transmitter and the receiver provides a unique means for on-time measurements.
In conclusion, for a given transmitting moment, the low noise level of NOVATEM provides both a better resolution and higher penetration depths.
